Mooshimeters in the wild

Dear Reader,

The preorders are out the door. On Friday I drove the last few hampers of mail to the USPS and handed them off. The local post office finally said “enough” with the hundreds of packages and told me to start delivering straight to the distribution center.

Odd one out

A few orders have come in since, and there are some stragglers with credit card and address issues, but having the pre-orders all shipped is a huge milestone.  Since Jan 16:

  • 1280 packages shipped
    • 826 domestic
    • 454 international

Support Resources

There’s no rest for the weary – now that meters are in the wild the users need support.  There’s a new quick start guide for the app, an updated FAQ page and an active forum.  There’s also a quick video showing you how to disassemble your meter to change the batteries and/or fuse, and access the reset button:

Reviews are Coming In!

PortPilot Technologies reviews their new Mooshimeter

Rowdy Somervillians make the world’s safest unboxing video

The blizzard has driven a house full of engineers to madness.  They mercilessly attach the meter to a high voltage transformer and expose it to high voltage impulses.

More App Updates Underway

Last week the new version of the iOS app was approved.

  • The new version runs in iOS7
  • The new version fails to enter graphing mode on iPad

Patches are in the works.

The Android app has also stabilized significantly, and has been submitted to the Google Play store where it is awaiting approval.  The latest builds are still being uploaded as APKs to moosh.im/s , and apks will be made remain available there even after the app is available in the Play store.

To Do

Between all the support and app cleanup work, the logging feature is also underway.  More on this when there’s a demo available.

Thanks for reading!

    Hi James,

Any idea why my Mooshimeter is still stuck in NY for 2 weeks already (LJ678247581US)? :))
I’m really eager to receive it!

    Cheers,
    Adela

That’s very strange… sorry but once it’s in USPS’s possession you have access to the same information I do. I can say that several other international packages have paused at seemingly random locations and intervals for a week or more before being delivered, but there’s not much that can be done about it from here. Sorry about that, I hope it gets through…

Thanks for your reply! Well, I guess I’ll be waiting for another 2 weeks or so and then worry if it hasn’t arrived until then.

I’ll let you know if it doesn’t :)

        Hi James,

Still no change after 1 month already (LJ678247581US stuck in Jamaica, NY). There’s clearly something wrong with it…

I’ve tried contacting USPS through their support forms but in the end was greeted with this message:

“For International inquiries, per the Universal Postal Union (UPU), if your inquiry pertains to the status of an article mailed from a US address to an address outside of the US, you must contact the US sender and ask them to initiate an inquiry with the US Postal Service by calling 1-800-222-1811.”

Could you please try solving this? I’m really eager to receive my Mooshimeter!

Update: It just popped out of the blue at the local post office (no tracking info on national post service info, tracking on USPS still shows the package in Jamaica, NY) since more than a month. Weird :)

Anyway, I’m really impressed by the overall design, packaging and build quality! Good job, Mooshim team!

Hooray! That’s a big relief! Thanks for the update :)

Mine is still trapped in Chicago since 7th. Took a week to get there and now for some unknown reason it has remained there for 9 days so far. USPS first class ?? hate to think what second class is like. And its no closer to its intended destination in Australia

    • James February 16, 2015 at 3:25 pm #

:-/ I can’t find a rhyme or reason to it. Many Australian packages went straight to LA and left the country. Some, like yours, appear to be on a nationwide tour. I think the Chicago delay is because there’s a massive blizzard there right now and mailing delays across the region. Sorry I can’t offer a happier update.

      • Boyd February 17, 2015 at 1:02 am #

There is a longshoreman’s strike in California. That could be the cause for the delays.

Patience has paid off, my meter is here in Oz and I’m very impressed so far. I need to spend a whole day locked away with it to try out all its magic tricks. Great work on a truly professional package worth double the price.
        Cheers Lawrie

    James,
When can we expect a software update? I am still itching for something the logs data so I can show this tool to more people. Otherwise it is just a nice wireless multimeter instead of a tool I can import the data into Excel and show trends and convert thermocouple voltage into temperature etc.
    Thanks for the hard work..

    Hello,
I tried to place an order, but cant get past the shipping info window. When I click on review order, the boxes turn red around country (United States) and state/province (Washington)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Would love to get the Mooshimeter in my hands.
    Thank you in advance!

Mine arrived late last week in South Africa, the mail came through without a hitch.
    It works!!
My favourite thing is that it has no on/off switch, so I can walk into the room, check the voltage, and leave without switching it on, or worrying the battery will go flat overnight like in my Fluke.
