Mooshimeters back in stock at Amazon

Hi Reader,

I’m happy to announce that Mooshimeters are back in stock at Amazon. The core product is unchanged but the tool case, test leads, clamps and leads are all improved versions.

The tool case is roomier and has a nylon finish which should wear better than the original gray.

The new tool case also has an internal zipped pocket for holding on to loose accessories like probe covers and SD cards. In practice I find the new tool case much easier to store everything in. The original case worked but it was a bit of a squeeze.

The test leads and probes are completely new. The leads are silicone insulation and softer than the original leads. The probes are modular and can be detached from the leads to make room for alligator clip/clamp attachments. Also now there are 3 colors instead of 2, which makes it easier to keep track of multi-channel measurements.

The price is the same for now at $125, though costs of production have increased since the last manufacturing run in 2017 so I will raise it after the Amazon stock sells out (to $140 I think? I need to do some accounting). I wanted to keep it the same for the re-introduction though.

Not much else is new, I’m mostly working from home on various contract jobs, and happy to see there is still a niche out there for this product. Thank you!

James, are the new case/leads available to purchase separately for those of us who already have a MooshiMeter? Thanks!

I bought a couple of these about 5 years ago and don’t use them. You dropped the ball when you made collecting data on a PC almost impossible. The Python port is indecipherable (unless you are a Pythonic data scientist). I don’t want to have to use a phone for this stuff. A pc is ideal for data collection. When I view the code on Github I want to vomit. I can’t get my brain around the mooshi wrapper and why do I need guids, etc. I just want to receive data serially using my laptops BLE. I am a 65 year old hobbyist… not a Python Guru. Too bad because the device is nice.

    Hi James,
Good luck with your relaunch on Amazon!
I followed your link and saw the product. Disappointingly I also saw that someone else has made another product which looks almost identical to yours and is selling it on Amazon for $233 (stock code B08J9RHQP9). They seem to be based in the US so perhaps you can take some action against them?
    Best Wishes :-)

Great to see that the Mooshimeter is back in production and mine has been very handy over the years. I can once again recommend it to fellow engineers and makers.

I’m so glad you brought it back in stock. I bought two this time. If any software updates come along I’d be interested in trying them. Keep up the good work.

Looks like I am exactly too late to get some of this batch. Any hint as to when the next batch will be??
I have owned 2 for years but I have convinced my current employer to buy a couple and stop using mine.

    James,
I last visited this site in June of 2020 and concluded that the Mooshimeter may never be produced again. It appears that a production run was made earlier this year, and the last post indicates availability as recent as September 5, 2021.

As of this date, Amazon states “Currently unavailable. We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”

Should I check back on occasion, or was this a one time production run?

    Hi James,
When do you think that Amazon will have the meter again? Thank you.

    Hi James,

A few years ago, for fun, I made an App Inventor application that connects to the Moshi to show results in Analog instruments drawn on the screen.

It would be cool if someone could make a true Moshemeter App Inventor extension. App Inventor has millions of users. https://appinventor.mit.edu/

If App Inventor could use Moshimeter as a thing with an interface with methods and events it would be easy to use it as a building block and to monitor real life experiments.

    Long live the Mooshimeter!
