I get “out of range” when i have open contact somewhere. Does your thermocouple work with other devices? Did you connect it right? It should go between common and auxiliary voltage (ohm-connector).

What do you get for temperature, if you short common and ohm, while app tries to measure thermocouple? Aux voltage should go to zero and internal and thermocouple temperatures should be nearly same.

Thermocouple need to be connected in right polarity, otherwise temperature readings start to change in wrong direction. Pinching your probe between fingers should give instant change towards your body temperature (assuming air temperature around you differs from it. Very easy to test here in Finland ;) ).
