The meter shows 0.00113 to 0.00095 A with no leads connected. How can this be used to measure CPU deep sleep currents which are in the uA? Is calibration required?

The meters are calibrated at the factory, but it sounds like you got a bad calibration. Typical offset is in the tens of microamps.

Also there’s a “zero” button in the app that will zero out the DC offset, but it’s only a temporary offset. Your meter should not be reading 1mA off out of the box.
