From some other posts here I gathered that logging will write a CSV file to the memory card, but all I’m seeing is some .BIN files and a .PY file. Do I not have the latest firmware? My meter does not notify me of a firmware update, but I can’t tell what version I have because that info is truncated in the scan display – I can only see “1437…”.

Is there any documentation on how to decode the BIN files?

      Hi Julia,

It sounds like you do not have the latest firmware. The most recent firmware saves directly to CSV format. Earlier versions produce a binary file (the .bin) and a conversion program written as a python script (the .py file). If you run the .py file, it will generate a CSV for you. To run a .py file you need to download python, which you can do here:

      https://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.7.11/python-2.7.11.msi

      Hope this helps,

I would much rather have the latest firmware to give me CSV files than to to anything with Python :) It seems my meter has gone from updating when I didn’t want it to in the past, to not updating at all now – be careful what you wish for!

How can I force my meter to update?

      Hi Julia,

To force your meter to update, connect to it while the meter is in bootloader mode. When you reboot the meter, it will be in bootloader mode for the first 5 seconds. If you connect to it in that timeframe, the app will automatically start uploading new firmware.

You can see me do it in this video. I’m using Android in this video, but the process is the same.

Yay, firmware update worked and I now have logging to CSV, thanks, James!

Also, congrats on being on Sparkfun, I left a positive comment. The site wouldn’t let me leave a review, maybe because it knew I didn’t buy it there.
