Oh goodie. total c&$@ shoot, so now I’m committed to buy a another new tablet. But seldom do they say anywhere in the spec, which BT version is present. Do you have a list of “approved” 7″ tablets under $200 ?

A database of known working devices would be useful. Maybe a wiki page that users could add their device details and compatibility could be setup.
Before spending money on a new tablet see if there are any custom roms that will update one of your older ones to at least kitkat.
P.S. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S5 mini with stock firmware and a Nexus 7 (2012) with CM11 (Kitkat 4.4.4), both work great.
CM10.2 (Jellybean 4.3) wouldn’t work properly on my Nexus, so older tablets may just need a newer version of android.
